This week, Discovery heroes dove into the “Whale-Level Quest Challenge,” an exciting and thought-provoking task as part of their Marine Science Quest. The challenge calls on heroes to identify a significant challenge facing the ocean today and come up with creative solutions. Heroes began by brainstorming a variety of issues threatening our oceans, such as plastic pollution, and the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems. They delved into research and discussed possible interventions.
They eventually chose to research further into plastic pollution in the ocean. From there, they worked to draft their solution and turn the solution into an art craft model. This challenge not only sparked deep discussions but also empowered heroes to think like marine scientists and problem-solvers. It’s inspiring to see their creativity and determination in tackling such critical issues, reminding us that even the biggest challenges can be addressed when minds come together. We can’t wait to see the final presentation and hear their visionary solution at the upcoming exhibition!
In Civilization research this week, Discovery heroes immersed themselves in the history and significance of Thanksgiving by creating engaging informational posters. This project provided an opportunity for them to explore the origins of the Thanksgiving festival, from its roots in the Pilgrims’ 1621 harvest feast to its evolution into a national holiday. They also added illustrations of Thanksgiving meals, and descriptions of how food connects people and fosters gratitude. It was inspiring to see their curiosity and creativity shine as they synthesized their findings into colorful, informative displays.
On Friday, Discovery and Spark heroes came together for an exciting game of Gaga Ball, filling the school with laughter and energy. Moments like these remind us of the importance of play in building a strong and united studio culture. It was truly a fun and memorable way to wrap up the week!
